Is the Four Seasons George V France’s best hotel? Certainly that is the claim of the management, and since the hotel’s reopening in December 1999, following a two-year, $125m facelift, many will find it hard to disagree. Bought in 1997 by the Saudi billionaire Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal, the hotel—which acted as General Dwight Eisenhower’s headquarters during the Liberation of Paris in 1944—has kept the elegance of its origins (it was built in 1928) but added extra space.
